Major project - Local family book Grossheppach

Großheppach

Since a large portion of my ancestors come from Großheppach and I have studied the local families very intensively, I began early on compiling a local family register for Großheppach, which includes all persons who lived or may have lived in Großheppach up until around 1800. I have been working on this topic, sometimes more intensively, sometimes less intensively, for several decades.

Today, Großheppach has 4,538 inhabitants (minus Gundelsbach) [Wikipedia, Nov 2022]

Gundelsbach

Gundelsbach is a village. It originated in the mid-14th century from a hermitage, then a small monastery, which was destroyed in the Peasants’ War in 1525. The last remnants were demolished in the early 19th century. A small hamlet grew up around the monastery, which has always belonged to Großheppach, both ecclesiastically and secularly. This hamlet is, of course, also included in the local family register.

Today, 100 people live in Gundelsbach.

Kleinheppach

Kleinheppach belongs to the municipality of Korb today, but for many years it was a Protestant parish of Großheppach, sometimes sharing a common parish register. Therefore, the separation cannot be strictly enforced in every case. So I included it into the Family book of Grossheppach to make it more simple. Furthermore, the population has always been rather small compared to Großheppach, so the additional effort is not particularly significant.

Kleinheppach currently has 1,759 inhabitants [Wikipedia, Dec 2023]
