Callenius lines

Individuals with the name Callenius or Calenius appear in documents as early as the mid-16th century, but these cannot yet be traced back to the present day. For example:

Gerwin Callenius line:
Gerwin Callenius: from Lippstadt, tune master in Cologne, publisher and councilor in Cologne; 1558 publisher in Cologne; 1579 councilor of the city of Cologne; 1600 licentiate of law in Cologne; 1579 citizen of Cologne; born 1525; + 1600; married 1557 with Sophia NN.; had his own coat of arms (see illustration, source: Siebmacher’s großes Wappenbuch, Vol. 10, Die Wappen bürgerlicher Geschlechter Deutschlands und der Schweiz Teil 2, 1972)
Gerwin Callenius (V: Gerwin C.): * 1559; + 1620; married at least twice; In 1608, he had income from the Bodendorf estate, including the mill and vineyard; Gerwin left no male heirs.
Gertr(a)ud Callenius (father: Gerwin C., * 1559 from his first marriage): born around 1585 (estimated); married to Johann Oeckhoven, councilor and mayor of Cologne (+ before 1621)
Sophia Callenius: born around 1585 (estimated); daughter of the above-mentioned Gerwin Callenius (* 1559) from his first marriage.
Anna Callenius (V: Gerwin C., * 1559 from his second marriage): * around 1590 (estimated); married to Franziskus Fabri in Bonn.

Lambertus Callenius line:

Lambert Callenius: born around 1480; citizen of Uelzen, 80 km SE of Hamburg, died 1549.
Paul Callenius: (V: Lambert C. * around 1480): scholarship in 1533; 1537–1541 in Uelzen, 1544 pastor in Hanstedt/Bevensen, 60 km SE of Hamburg. 1555 deacon in Bardowick near Lüneburg. 1570–1592 pastor in Lüneburg at St. Lamberti Church, 40 km SE of Hamburg. oo before 1646; died October 22, 1594 in Bardowick. All previous authors have identified the pastor and deacon as Bernhard Callenius, but this is incorrect.
Lambertus Callenius (V: Paul C.): born March 6, 1546 in Bardowick near Lüneburg; died 1591
Jakobus Callenius: 1571 enrolled at the University of Rostock together with Lambertus Callenius, from Lüneburg (city or country), possibly a brother of Lambertus C.
Paul Callenius (V: Lambertus C., * 1546): born 1575 (estimated)

Eschwege line (Hesse):

There is a Callenius family, originating from Eschwege in the mid-18th century and spread to various parts of Germany. The ancestor was named “Johann Rudolph Colenius“. For further information, see HERE.

 

Dorum Line (near Bremerhaven):

This line also appears in Dorum in the mid-18th century. The ancestor was “Otto Ludwig Colenius“. One branch emigrated to the USA in the mid-19th century. Another branch settled in Argentina. For more information, see HERE.
